Landlord & Landlady, Graham and Margaret run a great clean traditional country pub with a very civilised atmosphere situated in the small Shropshire village of Ashley near Loggerheads. Ambient music (no noisy Duke Box) with two real log fires (lit in winter). Great value typical home made pub food served evenings Wednesday-Sunday and lunches at weekends. You will need to book a table in advance as it gets very busy. Huge beer garden popular with families on sunny days. Traditional fast moving brewery and guest cask ales, and serves popular range of largers, Carling or becks, Ice cold 'Scrumpy Jack' cider etc.. and bottled wine is served either by the class, over the bar or at the table. When you are in there it seems hard to believe that pubs are currently (2009) in decline as this one certainly isn't!! While the pub has had internal improvements in recent years it has escaped the typically synthetic, 'of the fashion' approach, and the improvements that have been done appear 'timeless' and with complete sympathy to the buildings original charm. A good old traditional country pub, increasingly hard to find!
