Description:
Speed the plough is a small, friendly family pub having one comfortably furnished bar. Capacity is around 80/100 people. The pub has the usual darts boards (2) and a pool table (located in a separate room). Karaoke is possibly the very best in the area, if not the whole of north notts and is compered by the landlord (who was an entertainer before he became the landlord) on thursday and saturday evenings. The karaoke system is computer-based and is integrated into the multi-media system, images being shown on screens located on the fairly low ceiling beams.
The new external smoking area is as user-friendly as possible. Protection from the elements is the maximum allowed by law and heating and lighting are excellent.
The pub is open 7 - 12 pm mon to fri ; noon to 1am saturday and noon to 12 on sunday.
There is a pleasant beer garden to the rear, which is currently being extended to include an adventure area of around 1/4 acre for children, incorporating a crazy golf course, radio controled car track, mini assault course and a duck pond (completion spring 2008)
Speed the plough is merely 200 yards from the travel lodge and B&Q on mansfield road, sutton and within 5 minutes of sutton parkway rail station and junction 28 of the M1.
There is one simple guest room available with one double bed and one single for overnight visitors (available from Nov 2007)
