The world's biggest pub crawl is well underway in order to build the database for this site. We will be adding further counties to this site until our exhaustive research is complete. Phew, it's a tough job but somebody's got to do it!
This historic pub was built by Sir Richard Arkwright in 1763 as a refreshment place for his workers at the mill.As the water at the time was a bit suspect the men were encouraged to drink the ales-can't see that happening today. The pub was built out of red brick because people questioned Arkwrights finances and red brick was the most expensive material to use.His way of sticking two fingers to the world. There were usually a minimum of nine people living in the houses on North St working 12 hour shifts so the beds were never empty.
